Argument The eighteenth-century decadent pre-revolutionary France, as the setting for intrigue and ambition among the nobility. La Marquise de Merteuil (Glenn Close) is abandoned by her lover, to marry the virginal and naive Cecile de Volanges (Uma Thurman), the daughter of his cousin Madame de Volanges (Swoosie Kurtz), who is in love with her harp teacher , the Chevalier Raphael Danceny (Keanu Reeves). The Marquise asks his former lover and now friend, the Vicomte de Valmont (John Malkovich), who deflower Cecile to marry can not be honored by your lover and enemy.
